iPhone Headphones / Earbuds – Did you know?

iPhone-Headphone_Now, in admitting to what I am about to, I am probably going expose my (sometimes) inability to pay attention to detail. Much in the same way that I can stand in front of the cupboard and ask “Where’s the peanut butter?” only to have pointed out to me that its right in front of me.

So I guess this little piece of information is for males only, here I am adhering to the wild generalisation that says girls are more observant etc…

Anyway, on the way back from a meeting today, I plugged into my iPhone as I usually do, to listen to something on the trip back to the office. Whilst playing with the microphone on the earbuds I noticed the music stopped. My first thought was “bugger the battery is flat” but no. It turns out I had inadvertently squeezed the mic and it pauses the iPod function. Sure enough (you probably are going to guess this bit) you squeeze it again and it starts playing again.

Am I the only iPhone fanatic that does not know this? In fact, can I even call myself an iPhone fanatic at all?

Its gets better.

So happy as I was playing around, starting, stopping, I found something else. You squeeze for about 3 seconds and it does something else – it activates the Voice Control function of the iPod so you can talk to it, tell it what to play next etc..

(Voice Control is only iPhone 3.0 so if you have not upgraded you won’t have this little toy.)

So admit it. Did you actually know this or am I the only silly bugger that does not read instructions?
