iPhone Orientation Lock

in iPhone

The dust has settled on the new version of the iPhone operating system (iOS4). During the first days when it was out you couldn’t look at twitter without seeing how to do this or that with iOS4.

Funny though in all the excitement there was one little feature that I completely over looked until I accidentally found it while on a bus this week.

If you’re a user of the new iOS4 you’ve probably worked out that you push the home button twice to use the multitasking options. If you do that however then swipe left to right you get access to 3 things.

  1. a short cut to the iPod application
  2. quick buttons to pause / play & skip to the next and previous song
  3. orientation lock

While the music short cuts are nice, it’s the third one that I completely missed. It drives me nuts when reading something on the lounge or in bed that the screen kept on changing to landscape mode. With this little button you can lock it in the mode you’d like and lay down on the job as much as you like.

Goes to show, read as many ’100 things about the new iPhone’  articles and you still miss little tricks like this!
