iOS 4.3 for iPhone 4 and iPad

We don’t usually cover news here at AppleLife, but at the moment there is _so_ much going on if you’re a bit of an Apple geek that’s is just plain exciting!

iOS 4.3 is out for iPhone 4 and iPad, if you’re interested in a full run down checkout this post from MacWorld, it covers all of the territory.

For most, this update is going to come down to two features:

  1. The extended ability for Apple’s Airplay – we already love this but it’s opened up for more apps to support this great technology
  2. Personal hotspot with iPhone 4

There have been a lot of posts around discussing this functionality for US phone carriers, I’ve just tested it with Optus, an Australian carrier and it works well.

If you’ve updated to iOS 4.3 just look in the system settings and you’ll see a new option titled Personal Hotspots, it’s very easy to work out from there, worked first time for me.

It looks to replace the tethering settings as you can choose to connect via USB and Bluetooth as well as connecting devices using wifi to share your iPhone data network.

I posted here a while ago about a great little device from Netcomm that provides a wifi network on the move, I’d say now with this new functionality on the iPhone these devices will be less in demand (although it’s a great little gadget)
